Are You Stuck Waiting for a Clear Answer Before Making a Career Change? These 2 Actions Will Move You Forward

Do you want to make a meaningful career change but are still waiting for a clear answer?

It’s not a clear answer that you need 👇

When it comes to finding a more purposeful career path, I often see people waiting for a clear answer before taking action. They often already have some ideas and a meaningful vision, yet still expect a sort of ‘enlightenment’ that will propel them into action.

Let me tell you, it’s not a clear answer that you need. Otherwise, you might end up waiting for years—like I did in the past.

When I felt stuck in my marketing career, I spent a whole year thinking about what kind of job would bring me more meaning and excitement, until I realized that I would never find my answer just by thinking about it.

Now, 4 years later, I’ve found my purpose and a clear direction in my career as a coach and marketing professional. I’ve also coached over 100 clients on finding purpose and making a meaningful career change.

Here are the 2 types of action we all need to discover our purpose and get on a meaningful career path:

Type 1 Action: Learning & Reflection

This is where we all start.

We tune inward, trying to understand what we really want. You might:

  • Take personality tests
  • Journal or self-reflect
  • Work with a coach
  • Have conversations with people in your field of interest

As you get to know more about your interests, you might sign up for a course to learn more and develop a new skill.

And this is where I often see people stop.

At this stage, they’ve gained more clarity about what excites them—but may still doubt whether it’s the right path, especially without clear evidence.

That’s why you also need Type 2 Action.

Type 2 Action: Implementation & Inspired Action

It’s not enough to be self-aware and learn new skills. We also need to implement those learnings through inspired action.

Inspired action = actions that might scare you, but feel deeply meaningful to you.

For example:

  • Publicly sharing your unique perspectives on a topic
  • Creating an offer to apply what you’ve learned
  • Organizing an event to present your creative idea

When you take inspired action and concretely apply what you’re passionate about, you start connecting with your most creative, courageous, and authentic self.

These are the actions that teach you more about who you are and what your purpose is—and bring you closer to your intended path.

Then rinse and repeat.

By alternating between these two types of action:

  • You can finally stop overthinking and start gaining more clarity and confidence with each step.
  • You’ll figure things out in your career with more ease and joy—instead of pressure that only holds you back.

You might be wondering: But what if I need a certification first?

No matter what field you’re pursuing a certification in, you still need to discover what makes you unique and what brings true meaning to you within that field.

As a coach, I also had to figure out what drives me and how to position myself because there’re already so many coaches out there.

So there’s no better time to start exploring what makes you unique and fulfilled than while you’re working on your certification. Here’s a blog article that can support you if you’re afraid that you’re not ready or good enough.

I actually started coaching before getting certified, and that experience gave me the clarity and confidence to launch my practice—not the certification itself.

Honestly, the certification gave me more skills, but it didn’t make me feel more confident. My confidence came from practical experience—every workshop and program I created and ran.

So if you're tired of waiting for a clear answer and ready to take ownership over your career
